I have a cat named Raja and ever since he was a kitten, we made him yarn pom-poms to play with. He loves his pom-poms and I have many
photos with him carrying his pom-pom in his mouth like it was his prized (mouse) catch. He is now nearly four years old and still likes to play with his pom-poms, any size. Any way, I was sitting knitting one evening on my sofa in front of the T.V. as I like to do in the evenings and I saw Raja out of the corner of my eye walking over to my knitting bag sitting on the floor. I didn't think anything of it and then, all of a sudden Raja had my ball of yarn in his mouth!! He took off with it immediately leaving a trail of loose yarn on the floor behind him. I went running after him telling him to drop my ball of yarn and he finally did but not until he reached my dining room through which he had to cross my kitchen first. Raja is quite the little "thief" and now I have to be careful when I leave my knitting bag open when he is around!! I guess I can't blame Raja though, he just thought my yarn ball was just another one of HIS pom-poms... however large it was!

My oldest daughter used to like punk rock music, but as a 14 year old, I "had" to go with her to the concerts. I always had my knitting with me, usually a sock using magic-loop, so I didn't have DPs in use. One night, I was sitting knitting away and the bouncer came up. He was HUGE, at least 6'7". Anyway, he said he had never seen anyone knitting that way. Then he said, "I always do my socks on Double Points"! I just about died, but he said his grandma had taught him to knit because he would never be cold. He unlaced his size 15 boots to show me his latest pair of hand-knit socks. He made his rounds and then came back for me to teach him how to do the Magic-loop. He always knits his socks on the trains and buses so this was a great way for him to do it without dropping DPs. I never thought I'd be teaching a bouncer how to knit something new!

I had purchased a packet of googly eyes for some stuffed animals I had knitted. My kids got to the envelope before I did, and ripped the packet open, sending an explosion of eyeballs all over the room.

Months later, I keep finding them all over the house, peering out from under the refrigerator, sticking to the bottoms of my feet, and even in the litterbox occasionally. It’s The Curse Of The Googly Eyes.

I've always been a sleep talker and my daughter has always been a night waker....the two make for quite a few funny stories. One night right after I had started knitting, she came in my room and told me she couldn't sleep. Evidently I was busy dreaming about my knitting because I told her..."just go get the knitting needles"
She said "You REALLY!?! want me to sleep with knitting needles?"
Which is when I woke up and thought she had lost her mind.

I have a two and half year old shuh tzu named Jake, that seriously loves yarn. So much that he has been known to eat it. Yes, very dangerous I know, Thank God the yarn did get digested and removed from his little belly on its own. That was close that couldn't of been a huge vet bill....However since then he has been known to eat needles, crochet hooks, point protectors, stitch markers. You name it he's ate it. Every once in a while he will hide the items in his bed under his blanket if I don't pay attention. So I know if I'm missing something to check there. I wonder if you can teach a dog how to knit........

My mother liked to knit at the beach when we were kids - she got a tan, and got Xmas knitting out of the way, while we got to have fun in the sand. One day, she brought a full-sized afghan she was working on. As my brothers and I were splashing around, we noticed mom was throwing down her knitting and chasing angrily after some seagulls with a stick. Curious, we came out of the water and asked what was up. Well, she was too angry to speak, so she showed us - one of the seagulls had...er...relieved itself all over her nearly-finished blanket. :O
