Classic Shades is a soft-to-the touch acrylic/wool roving style yarn featuring a stunning selection of colors which shade easily, one to the next. With a sheen similar to silk, finished garments in Universal's Classic Shades take on a painterly quality perfect for sweaters and winter accessories --- plus, this worsted weight yarn is machine washable!

Isn't this beautiful!! Shawls are usually all lace, but this one is all soft cables! Amay-Zing!
Sara switched from a sock weight to a slightly heavier, yet very silky cotton bamboo blend! Love it!

Credit Card Chargebacks hurt businesses

It's interesting to look at how far we've come in methods to pay our bills. From only paying cash, to opening checking accounts, then onto credit cards and now automatic online payments. While some of these changes have made some things very convenient for some, for others the learning curve has been frustrating. These days, in light of all the credit card fraud, it is even now more important to be able to log onto your credit card accounts and credit history to protect the good rating we've worked so hard for.

I would like to share something many people don't know. Credit card companies assure us we will not incur any fraudulant charges on our credit cards. They are very reassuring about this. "We will take care of this" is their response. And we go to bed at night thinking the credit card company is taking care of us. But, do you know that that fruadulent charges are not absorbed by the credit card companies? It is the business that accepted the credit card that takes the loss. The credit card company turns around and takes it back from the company, who in good faith, accepted the credit card.

There are 3 key elements we, as businesses who accept cards, check before we process internet orders. The street, zip and security code must all give us a "Y" (Yes)match to what the credit card company has on file. If it gives us back a "N", it is up to us to decide whether we want to ship product. But even if it is a positive match, there is no guarantee that the credit card company can't charge it back 3 months later.

And if someone walks into a business, there is no way to confirm that card is good at all, unless id is checked.

The point of my commentary? I want all card holders to know who is really taking the loss when credit card accounts are used fraudlently.

Rose City Mystery Crochet and/or Knit a Long.

Mystery Knit- and Crochet-Along
Attention all knitters, crocheters, Portland, Oregon yarn fans, folks coming to the 2014 Rose City Yarn Crawl, and anyone who likes a good mystery-along!
We are excited to announce that, as a part of the 2014 Rose City Yarn Crawl, there will be both a Mystery Knit-along AND a Mystery Crochet-along. We’ve teamed up with two fabulous local designers, Michele Bernstein the knitter and Laurinda Reddig the crocheter, and we couldn’t be happier with what they’ve come up with for us. Two very different and very Portland designs.
The patterns are being sold through Ravelry, but even if you're not a member, you can purchase them and get updates. If you're not a member, you may want to consider joining – it's a fantastic resource for all crafty folk.
This are the colors we are going to do ours in. These hanks of Cascade Heritage Silk in Strawberry Creme and Pastel Mix. We love this silky yarn, and its sweet price!!  We will be using this one for the Crochet.  For the Knit Along, we are using  Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Old Rose and Avalon.
We will have two small Mystery Knit/Crochet a long groups at our classroom table. Thursday at 11:30 until ? for downtown worker-bees wishing to take a lunch hour here.
And on Saturday from 11:00-5:00 for those who wish to enjoy ending the day with us.
Angelika’s is located at 1975 SW 1st Ave (Portland Center Plaza)…cross streets are SW Lincoln & SW Harrison.
